After protracted negotiations ownership of Sherborne House and surrounding land passed from Dorset County Council to Redcliffe Homes in the autumn of 2011. Work has now begun on clearing land for the development of 44 new homes. Work on the restoration of the historic house and Thornhill mural will also begin soon. Included in the plans are the development and refurbishment of part of the building as gallery, sculpture garden and café. The Sherborne House Trust, supported by The Friends of Sherborne House , is working towards taking on the lease of these spaces to create an inspiring environment for engaging with visual art in a unique historical setting.
Move to new office
We are now temporarily based in Dorchester – it’s a tiny office compared to the luxury of our large elegant room at Sherborne House but gives us an ideal base from which to work and continue with our programme development. Click here to get in touch with us.
Artists Archive sale
Thanks to all who supported us by buying work at our Artists Archive Sale in May last year.
We plan to hold similar sales in the future. Its a fantastic way of bringing great art to our audiences and give a unique opportunity for the public to buy original work from artists personal archives whilst raising funds to support the development of the Sherborne House gallery and our arts programme.
Getting involved
We are always interested in hearing from anyone keen to get more involved with the development of Sherborne House and our projects. If you think you can help in any way please get in touch .
